We offer grease trap services such as residential and commercial grease trap pumping, cleaning and waste disposal to South East Queensland.
Beaudesert Liquid Waste experts recommend your grease trap be emptied every 6 - 12 months. You can save money by having your septic, grease trap and sullage pump-outs done at the same time. More often than not, these facilities build up sludge at a similar rate.
We can help you set up a regular service plan to keep things running at optimum performance, pain-free.
A grease trap is a device installed outside of your kitchen either in the ground or sometimes a unit aboveground that separates greases, oils and fats from the water running into your pipes and eventually into a treatment facility. A grease trap (AKA grease interceptor) is basically a water-filled box that traps grease when it goes down the sink. Because grease floats, it is “trapped” in between baffle walls inside the grease trap, while allowing the cleaner water to safely exit the grease trap.
Grease traps help to keep your pipes and public council-owned pipes in good condition. Kitchens produce grease, oil and food scraps, which, if not blocked and removed by a grease trap, will cause plumbing issues and blockages in council pipes.
Grease traps also reduce the pressure on nearby water treatment facilities to clean the oils, fats and greases from public wastewater, which can slow down the water treatment process and risk clogged pipes and spills.
The most common types of grease traps are: point-of-use units for home kitchens and large in-ground tanks for hospitals and restaurants.
If your kitchen sink is draining slowly, or if you notice a strong odour from your sink, it is time to have your grease trap cleaned. Your kitchen plumbing will not operate correctly if your grease trap is at capacity. Ignoring the problem can lead to clogged pipes and damage to your kitchen, requiring expensive repairs.
To keep your grease trap functioning properly between services, scrape as many food scraps as possible into your household rubbish bin before washing the dishes. Use a sink strainer to prevent food scraps from washing down the drain and pour cooking oils into a jar and dispose of them in your rubbish bin.
